\u201eDie Mutter Architektur, die uns erheben und selbst erhaben sein konnte, stellt nun in einer Art von Geb\u00e4rmutter-Analogie die assoziative Verkn\u00fcpfung zum \u201eozeanischen Gef\u00fchl\u201c des Allverbundenen und Allumfassenden her. Boden, Wand und Decke, die baulichen Entsprechungen einer orthogonalen Dreidimensionalit\u00e4t, wandeln sich zur amorphen H\u00fclle, der umbaute Raum wird zum Volumen. Gabi Schillig erkundet in ihren Arbeiten experimentell Raum und Architektur als eine Erweiterung des menschlichen K\u00f6rpers und als Medium der Kommunikation. Sie versteht den Raum nicht als unbewegliche Umgebung, sondern als lebendig und dynamisch mit dem K\u00f6rper verwoben. In ihrer Vorstellung sind Raum, K\u00f6rper und Handlung nicht voneinander getrennt sondern sie bedingen einander und sind untrennbar miteinander verbunden. Ihre weichen Architekturen \u2013 soft architectures<\/strong> \u2013 in Form von textilen H\u00fcllen, weichen H\u00e4uten bis hin zu nahezu immateriellen Membranen lassen Raum- und K\u00f6rpergrenzen durchl\u00e4ssig, ver\u00e4nderbar und verg\u00e4nglich werden. Weichheit als raum-, materialbezogenes und soziales Konzept erm\u00f6glicht Sanftheit und Wandlungsf\u00e4higkeit. Sie ist nicht nur eine physische Eigenschaft, sondern l\u00e4sst sich auch als eine komplexe, vielschichtige Struktur oder Anordnung begreifen und beschreibt auf immaterieller Ebene die Bedeutung von Interaktivit\u00e4t, Ver\u00e4nderbarkeit und Sensibilit\u00e4t f\u00fcr menschliche und nicht menschliche K\u00f6rper, Akteur*innen, R\u00e4ume und Lebewesen.<\/p>\n

Gabi Schillig<\/strong> ist Gestalterin und K\u00fcnstlerin und entwirft experimentelle dialogische Raumstrukturen und Kommunikationsr\u00e4ume. Sie studierte Architektur in Coburg und Konzeptionelles Entwerfen an der St\u00e4delschule in Frankfurt am Main. Ihre Arbeiten, die sie in ihrer k\u00fcnstlerischen Praxis im Rahmen ihres Studio for Dialogical Spaces<\/strong> entwickelt, werden in internationalen Kontexten und Ausstellungen gezeigt. Sie hat zahlreiche Stipendien und Preise erhalten, u.a. von der Akademie Schloss Solitude, Van Alen Institute New York, Largo das Artes Rio de Janeiro, Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau. Gabi Schillig lebt in Berlin und lehrt als Professorin an der Universit\u00e4t der K\u00fcnste Berlin. Seit 2023 arbeitet sie wiederkehrend in Japan, wo sie ihre k\u00fcnstlerische Forschung zu topologies of softness<\/strong> weiterf\u00fchrt. <\/p>\n
