Contemporary dance philosophy recognises that the act of dancing enables meaning to emerge situationally and performatively.

In Hunter’s "Dance", the form of the figures is partially reflected in their situation with a sensuous fluidity while other motifs provide reference points; the figures are simultaneously anchored in and moving through their situation. We clearly see one countenance while the other is obscured in their embrace; the figures are plural but singular in their embrace. They share the embrace and the performance while only divulging hints to the meaning of their dance.

There is an abstraction and opacity which enables us to appreciate their performance while allowing them the privacy of its meaning.
