TEN EURO RED 2024

Within her ongoing Nail Polish Edition (2022–2024), Janine Mackenroth launched TEN EURO RED in 2024 – a vibrant plant-based nail polish whose striking hue is taken directly from the unmistakable red of the €10 banknote. Produced in Germany from 90% plant-derived ingredients and designed to be 100% wearable, the polish operates simultaneously as a sustainable cosmetic product and a conceptual artwork for everyday life.

By transforming the bright, energetic red of mid-range European currency into an object of personal adornment, Mackenroth explores how colour and value are culturally coded. The lively, confident tone of TEN EURO RED retains its links to finance and exchange, yet here it becomes a visual and tactile expression of individuality, prompting reflection on the economy’s presence in the smallest gestures of self-presentation.

As with all shades in the series, TEN EURO RED turns nails into living canvases, blurring the boundaries between body, economy, and art – and inviting its wearer to embody the colour of money in motion.
