For Berlin Art Week 2026, aquabitArt Galerie in Auguststraße 35 presents new works by Annette Selle and Wilfried Habrich under the title “Neue Werke / New Works”. The exhibition brings together two distinct painterly positions whose pictorial worlds emerge through repetition and accumulation.
Annette Selle – Clouds of Dots, Star Fields
In her works in oil, pigment, and mixed media, Annette Selle condenses thousands of individual dots of colour into floating formations. Against luminous, scraped-back grounds, fields emerge that recall star fields, clouds, or flocks of birds without ever becoming figurative. Her painting unfolds through rhythm and movement: layers of colour are exposed, overlaid, and opened up again. The result is a pictorial space suspended between abstraction and memory, between stillness and inner dynamism.
Wilfried Habrich – Markets, Squares, Passers-by
Wilfried Habrich approaches the picture with an open, fluid gesture. His works on paper evoke impressions of markets, squares, and street scenes. Planes of colour flow into one another, held together by a framework of drawn lines and punctuated by luminous accents. The city appears here not as a concrete place, but as an atmosphere – a weave of movement, encounter, and memory.
Two Directions of Sight, One Principle
While Annette Selle turns her gaze towards the open and the cosmic, Wilfried Habrich turns towards the rhythm of urban space. Both positions move between accumulation and dissolution, between order and chance. Out of countless individual gestures, images emerge whose tension lies in the interplay between structure and freedom.
