FIFTY EURO ORANGE 2024

Within her ongoing Nail Polish Edition (2022–2024), Janine Mackenroth launched FIFTY EURO ORANGE in 2024 – a plant-based nail polish capturing the warm, radiant orange of the €50 banknote. Produced in Germany from 90% plant-derived ingredients and created to be 100% wearable, this shade functions both as a sustainable cosmetic product and as a conceptual artwork, seamlessly merging art and daily life.

By translating the inviting yet authoritative orange of one of the Eurozone’s most recognisable notes into an intimate form of self-adornment, Mackenroth playfully interrogates the ways in which colour is tied to value, trust, and exchange. The glow of FIFTY EURO ORANGE resonates with connotations of energy, abundance, and creative vitality, while subtly gesturing toward the continual circulation of capital in everyday experience.

Like each entry in the series, FIFTY EURO ORANGE transforms nails into portable, living canvases, allowing the body to become a site where economy, aesthetics, and identity intersect.
