As part of her ongoing Nail Polish Edition (2022–2024), Janine Mackenroth introduced ONE HUNDRED EURO GREEN in 2024 – a plant-based nail polish echoing the rich, sophisticated green of the €100 banknote. Produced in Germany from 90% plant-derived ingredients and designed to be 100% wearable, this shade exists at the intersection of sustainable design, conceptual art, and everyday adornment.
By transforming the deep, authoritative green of high-denomination currency into a gesture of personal styling, Mackenroth invites reflection on the cultural and emotional weight of colour. ONE HUNDRED EURO GREEN resonates with associations of stability, prosperity, and trust, while prompting its wearer to consider the presence – and presentation – of economic value in daily life.
As with every work in the series, ONE HUNDRED EURO GREEN turns nails into portable, living canvases where body, economy, and art converge – enabling the colour of money to circulate on a human scale.
